Full Itinerary:

Day 1:

Saturday 24th January - Arrival in Columbo.

Ayubowan! (the traditional Sri Lankan greeting, meaning “may you live long”). Welcome to Sri Lanka, the pearl of the Indian Ocean.

Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB), you will be met by our local representative and transferred to your hotel to relax and unwind. Once settled, we’ll head out to explore Colombo, a bustling capital that blends modern life with history and tradition.

Today we will visit:

  • Pettah Market – a lively, colourful bazaar full of spices, fabrics, and gems
  • The iconic Red Mosque – a striking Indo-Islamic landmark in crimson and white
  • Galle Face Green – a popular oceanfront promenade perfect for an evening stroll

 

Overnight in Colombo.

Day 2:

Sunday 25th January - Colombo → Sigiriya

After breakfast, we set out towards Sigiriya, one of Sri Lanka’s most famous heritage sites. Along the way we will stop at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage before experiencing a village tour that offers a glimpse into authentic rural life.

Today we will visit:

  • Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage – watch rescued elephants bathe and feed
  • Village tour of Hirivadunna – experience a bullock cart ride, boat crossing, paddy fields, and a cooking demo at a village home

 

Overnight in Sigiriya.

Day 3:

Monday 26th January - Sigiriya → Kandy

After an early breakfast, get ready to climb the Lion Rock Fortress, one of Sri Lanka’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Later, continue to Kandy, the cultural heart of the island.

Today we will visit:

  • Sigiriya Rock Fortress – the 8th Wonder of the World, with palace ruins and panoramic views
  • Spice Garden – discover Sri Lanka’s aromatic spice heritage
  • Kandy Cultural Show – traditional dance and music performance
  • Kandy Lake Viewpoint – take in breath-taking views of the city and lake

 

Overnight in Kandy.

Day 4:

Tuesday 27th January - Kandy → Nuwara Eliya

Today we leave Kandy and head into the lush highlands, stopping en route to see some of Sri Lanka’s most famous exports: gems and tea.

Today we will visit:

  • Gem Museum – learn how raw stones are turned into sparkling jewellery
  • Tea Factory – tour the plantations and taste authentic Ceylon tea
  • Gregory Lake – relax by the calm waters or enjoy a leisurely boat ride

 

Overnight in Nuwara Eliya (known as “Little England” for its cool climate and colonial charm).

Day 5:

Wednesday 28th January - Nuwara Eliya → Ella → Yala

This morning we journey to Ella, a charming hill town surrounded by tea plantations and waterfalls, before continuing to Yala for an evening safari.

Today we will visit:

  • Ella – scenic viewpoints and lush landscapes
  • Ravana Waterfall – one of Sri Lanka’s most photographed falls
  • Yala National Park – enjoy a jeep safari in search of elephants, leopards, and exotic birdlife

 

Overnight in Yala.

Day 6:

Thursday 29th January - Yala → Galle → Beruwala

After breakfast, we drive towards the coast, exploring Sri Lanka’s rich history and traditions along the way.

Today we will visit:

  • Galle Fort – a UNESCO World Heritage Site with colonial-era architecture
  • Stilt Fishing – watch fishermen practising this traditional technique
  • Turtle Hatchery – learn about conservation efforts and release baby turtles into the ocean

 

Overnight in Beruwala.

Day 7:

Friday 30th January - Beruwala Stay

Today is all about coastal charm, nature, and relaxation.

Today we will experience:

  • Madhu River Boat Safari – cruise through mangroves, see monkeys, water monitors, and visit Cinnamon Island
  • Masjid Al Abrar – Sri Lanka’s first and oldest mosque, in a historic Muslim settlement
  • Bentota Beach – unwind on golden sands and enjoy the sea breeze

 

Overnight in Beruwala.

Day 8:

Saturday 31st January - Beruwala → Colombo

On our final full day, we return to Colombo via some heartwarming and scenic stops.

Today we will visit:

  • Isha Athul Islam Children’s Orphanage – a chance to connect and give back
  • Train ride along the coastal line – experience stunning ocean views
  • Shopping in Colombo – from handloom crafts to modern malls

Day 9:

Sunday 1st February - Departure from Colombo

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before your transfer to Colombo Airport (CMB) for your flight home.

Just wanted to say a big Thank you to Sadia for hosting an amazing trip to Jordon. the trip was well organised from start to finish. My trip to Jordan in October 2022 was definitely one of the most memorable trips I have ever taken. It is remarkable how a group of complete strangers could come together in an unfamiliar country and make such amazing memories. I will forever cherish the friendships created during this trip and our journey through the awe-inspiring country. Our local guide and team lead, all arranged through MWTG, took great care in ensuring our safety and comfort. The pre-planned itinerary also made it very easy for us to visit several places in Jordan and absorb as much of the history/culture of the country as possible. MWTG has created a unique platform for like-minded Muslim women to connect and travel safely across the world. I am eagerly looking forward to the next adventure with MWTG.
