Arrival at Tunis airport. Asslema and welcome to Tunisia! We’ll land in Tunis to a warm welcome from our English-speaking guide and our driver who will transfer us to our hotel in the beautiful Sidi Bou Said. Once checked in, we can either relax in comfortable surroundings or take the chance to stretch our legs on the shores of the Mediterranean before our adventure starts in the morning.
Your MWTG lead will be waiting to greet you at your hotel and arrange for the group to have dinner together this evening.

We will be taking a day trip to Bizerte and Sajnane with its distinctive pottery handicraft made by the local women, with opportunities available for those of us willing to try. From there we can enjoy the area and mixing with the locals before heading back to Tunis for dinner and our overnight stay.

Leaving Tunis behind, we will stop off in Zaghouan and try out the local cake making techniques. We will make sure you get the chance to try some Kaak Warka – a pastry filled with marzipan resembling a doughnut to satisfy the sweet tooth in all of us. On leaving Zaghouan, the next stop will be Kairouan for dinner and overnight stay

Before leaving Kairouan, we will take the time to visit the Islamic monuments of the town including the Great Mosque which is one of the most holy sites in Islam. From there we will take the road to El Jem to witness the grand colosseum and make a short stop in Mahdia en route to Sousse.

As a major modern city, Sousse is one of Tunisia’s most lively coastal resorts. In the morning we can explore this historic city, it has preserved a magnificent medina and exceptional monuments from the Middle Ages. On leaving the city, we’ll stop off to visit the fortress at Monastir before travelling on to Hammamet.

Today we will spend the day in Hammamet and Nabeul with a morning visit to the handcraft workshops to visit those artisans weaving and those making pottery and stone sculpture. The afternoon can be spent at leisure in the beautiful beach surroundings of Hammamet.

Following check out from our hotel, we will depart from Hammamet and return along the road to the airport at Tunis. This is where our tour will end as we say “Bislema” and catch our flight home.
