Had the privilege of experiencing the Darjeeling Express lunch club and it was nothing short of extraordinary. Asma Khan, the heart and soul behind this culinary journey, shared each dish with such passion and grace, weaving in stories that brought the food to life. Her words about foodโs deep connection to culture, identity, and history were powerful, she spoke so elegantly about how food can be a reminder of home, no matter where we are in the world. As the last in her bloodline to prepare her familyโs famed Biryani, she beautifully reminded us how food has been both a gift and a victim of colonization, from India to Palestine (plus genocide which is still ongoing) , and beyond.
